The trial and regular versions are built from the same code. The difference is in packaging and protection:
Platforms. The trial is published for one version of Visual Studio only. Regular archives are available for a range of platforms and operating systems, including debug configurations.
Activation. The trial is tied to a specific computer and runs only after it has been activated there. Regular archives are tied to your development computer, so applications you build with the SDK don’t need activation on each computer where they run.
