PDF import and visualization added to standard SDK
Scottsdale, AZ: June 21st, 2018 – Open Design Alliance (ODA) today announced the release of version 2019 of Teigha® Drawings, the SDK for accessing .dwg and .dgn data from any application. This release marks the first use of year-based version numbers for ODA products.
“Drawings 2019 offers PDF import and PDF underlay visualization as standard components for .dwg-based applications,” commented Neil Peterson, ODA President. “Both technologies were available previously but required an additional licensing fee. With 2019 they are now available to all ODA members at no additional cost.”
Sergey Vishnevetsky, ODA Development Director, said, “Drawings 2019 also extends our Boundary Representation (B-Rep) framework with new ACIS® export capabilities, allowing 3D solid models from Parasolid®, PRC, and Autodesk® Revit® files to be converted to ACIS.
“Our first use of this new technology is for .dgn import—we can now convert .dgn-based Parasolid models to ACIS entities during import, rather than downgrading them to meshes. This also opens the door for future exchange work, for example converting Revit files to .dwg while preserving the 3D solids.”
Drawings 2019 contains a number of additional enhancements including reduced storage requirements for .dwg-based revision history, support for linking Excel® tables to .dwg-based table entities, and audit support for ACIS entities, as well as fixes for several hundred member-reported issues.
